Friday 28th May - walk **** - Landguard Nature Reserve circuit – sunny periods and milder.

Funny day really, started pretty cloudy then the sun came out in the morning and we even had a huge halo around the sun and in the afternoon, it went a little hazy but still much milder:) The usual morning at home me exercises in the garden with Mag pottering with her plants despite her back really playing up! Then I again make a quality sandwich, ham with slices of butter, you have to have something a little naughty from time to time! We drive down to The Manor to do our Landguard Nature Reserve walk as lovely as ever with all the usual birds, Linnnets, Wagtails, Oyster Catchers, Pigeons, Wheatears, Blackbirds, Sparrows, Cormorants and Gulls. We miss out the viewing poit this time but get to the River Orwell in time to see three tugs berthing a large container ship as the roll on roll off ferry comes in. We find a spot on the old pier for our yummy picnic watching the world go by. Boats of various sizes out, plus a large number of gull feeding on something at the end of the pier all very entertaining:) So lucky to have this so near to home with always something great to see! Then back across the heath and home via Lidl before a lovely video call from our Grandson who opened his Birthday present from us, he loved it too although his actual Birthday is tomorrow but they are out for the day! With it being a Bank Holiday with good weather it looks like the seafront would be best avoided so if Mags back is up to it perhaps a bike inland to see ‘Emily’ or a walk somewhere quiet???
